NEON..........BURIAL

A digital requiem wrapped in light. Neon Burial is where signal meets decay, a website built to feel like a dying broadcast still trying to reach you. Stark typography, fractured grids, and electric noise form a ritual of pixels and persistence.

NEON.BURIAL - a music platform whose interface answers to frequency

PROJECT/OVERVIEW

NEON.BURIAL is a music platform where UI responds to audio frequency in real-time. Dark music darkens the interface. Aggressive tracks intensify visual chaos. Ambient sounds calm the design. The platform FEELS the music and reflects it visually. This is not just a player. This is synesthesia as interface.

CHALLENGE

Built audio analysis engine using Web Audio API. FFT analysis in real-time. Interface responds to frequency ranges, BPM, amplitude. Dark music: darker UI. Bright music: vibrant colors. Bass-heavy: heavier elements. Every song creates unique visual environment.

SOLUTION

DISCOVERY & ANALYSIS

PHASE 1

We started by building perfection, only to destroy it. The first phase was pure architecture: grid systems, type hierarchies, clean motion. Then we fractured everything. We wrote code that disobeyed, animations that glitched, and layouts that refused alignment. The goal was to design something that could fail gracefully, a beautiful collapse in slow motion.

CONCEPT & ITERATION

PHASE 2

With the structure fractured, we brought it to life. Neon pulses, distorted soundscapes, motion that flickers like memory. This phase was about resurrection, letting the dead design breathe through electric light. It's signal reborn in fluorescence, decay as illumination.

DEVELOPMENT & TECH

PHASE 3

We wired the interface to the music itself. A Web Audio analyser feeds an FFT stream into the render loop, so the palette, the grain and the type weight all answer to what is playing. Sixty frames a second on a five year old phone was the hard constraint, and it shaped every decision after it.

IMPACT & METRICS

PHASE 4

Average session length tripled against the client benchmark. Listeners started screenshotting the player and posting it, which is the only marketing the release ever got. The label has since rolled the reactive system across its whole back catalogue.
